Access at the pub
Let us know what you need to feel comfortable when you visit.
At The Barley Mow you’ll find:
- Accessible entrance

If you have a question about getting into the pub, finding a suitable seat or using our facilities, please call or email us before you come. We can talk through your needs, including any questions about parking.
Using the website
We want our website to be easy to use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, but the site has not yet had an independent accessibility audit.
You can:
- Move around using a keyboard. A visible outline shows where you are, and a skip link takes you straight to the main content.
- Enlarge the text and read the page in a layout that adjusts to fit.
- Use text descriptions of photographs and read labels that do not depend on colour alone.
- Use your device’s reduced motion setting.
What we have checked, and when
This statement was prepared on 17 September 2026 and describes the site as it stood that day. We check the site during every round of work on it.
Checked: heading structure, keyboard-only navigation, visible focus, the skip link, text enlargement to 200%, colour contrast, and the layout at phone widths from 320px upwards using browser emulation.
What we know is not covered
We would rather name these than leave you to find them:
- No independent accessibility audit has been carried out. Our checks are our own.
- No screen-reader session has been run — VoiceOver, NVDA and TalkBack have not been used on these pages. The page structure is correct as far as we can tell by inspection, which is not the same as tested.
- No testing on real phones or tablets. The phone layouts were checked using desktop browser emulation.
- Windows High Contrast and forced-colours mode have not been checked.
- Booking happens on Nabatable’s website, which we do not control and have not tested. If you have difficulty there, call or email us and we will help.
One problem we found and fixed on 17 September 2026: between 768 and 899 pixels wide — an iPad held upright — the page showed no menu and no booking button, so the only way to reach another page was to scroll to the bottom. If you meet anything like it, please tell us.
